Welcome Dear MEMBERS OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF IMAGE PROCESSING, my name is Sandy Walters, yoga and meditation teacher and owner of Namaste North Yoga in Downtown Anchorage, Alaska.

I am honored to guide you through a few yoga practices during your virtual conference. I believe this conference was originally scheduled to be in the great land also known as Alaska. My hope is that you will one day get the opportunity to have this conference in-person in Alaska.

Alaska has been home to me for the past 30 years. I arrived from Sri Lanka to attend College here and never left. It’s a wild and magical place with towering mountains, glaciers, oceans, rivers and of course it’s abundant wildlife. A land that is known for its vast and expansive spaces that uplifts you.

My intention through yoga is to connect you to a similar experience of being connected to spaciousness and openness through the mind and body; that is the experience of Yoga.

Each day we will move mindfully through Yoga Movements and will include a Meditation Practice.

Two of the 45-minute morning sessions will be a gentle full body focused practice to prepare you for the day ahead.

One of the 45-minute morning sessions will provide you with a Chair Yoga practice that is either sitting or standing only. It will be created to release any built-up tension (mind and body), improve focus, and bring some ease to begin your day.

  • Bring a yoga mat
  • Have a cushion or if you have yoga blocks to sit on (applies to morning practice)
  • Please come prepared in comfortable clothing and ideally will be practicing on bare feet.
  • Make sure you are in a quiet space. Turn off your cell phones, alarms etc.

The sessions are slow and gentle flow yoga. Even though it is gentle yoga, the golden rule is if it doesn’t feel right, then don’t do it. Since I cannot see you, you are ultimately responsible for yourself. Yoga is about mindful movement. Even if you don’t do everything as I guide you, just being aware of your presence will bring some release to the body and spaciousness to the mind

Looking forward to guiding you soon in a practice… thank you for this opportunity. NAMASTE

Yoga is a mindful practice where we move and breath with complete awareness. It is a practice that deepens your awareness and understanding of your body and your-self.
